Send a voice note
A voice note is a recording you send in a chat. It is different from dictation, which types your words into the box. See Use the message box. It is also different from a call. See Talk to an employee by voice.
Record one
- In an employee chat, choose the record button next to the message box.
- Speak. The box shows a red dot, the time and a live waveform.
- Choose Send. Or choose Cancel to throw it away.
Limits
- A very short note, under a second, is refused.
- A note sends by itself at 5 minutes.
- The button is off during a call, because recording would hang the call up.
- It does not appear in a Space conversation.
If it doesn't work
- "No words came through in that recording." Try again a little closer to the mic.
- "That recording is empty or too long." Record a shorter clip.
- "The recording couldn't be turned into text just now." Try again in a moment.
- If a send fails, the note is kept. Choose Try again. It is delivered once.
- If voice is not set up, see Set up voice.
- If the mic does nothing, check your device's microphone permission.
