Take control of a computer
You can take over an employee's computer to do something yourself, then hand it back.
Steps
- Open the Computer tab or the full screen view.
- Choose Take Control. The screen gets an accent edge and a message reads "You have control".
- Click and type as you normally would.
- When you are done, choose Hand Back. The employee carries on. A short "handed back" notice appears.
When the employee asks for you
Sometimes the employee needs you for a password, a code or a CAPTCHA. A card quotes the request and says "Passwords, codes and CAPTCHAs are always entered by you."
- Choose Take Control.
- Finish the sign-in or step.
- Choose "I'm Done". Or choose Skip to let the employee move on without it.
If it doesn't work
- If Take Control does nothing, the computer may not be live yet. Wait for the screen to appear.
- On a phone, use the touch keyboard. Choose Hand Back, then Close to return to the chat.
- "Someone has taken control of this screen." Try again when they hand it back.
- "Taking control of the computer didn't work." Try again in a moment.
