Teach an employee by showing it

You can show an employee a job on its computer. It records what you do, then turns the recording into a skill. To manage skills you already have, see Teach and manage skills.

Record a lesson

  1. Make sure the employee's computer is running. See Start or change an employee's computer.
  2. Start a teaching session and choose to start recording.
  3. Do the job yourself on the computer.
  4. Pause or resume if you need a break.
  5. Finish recording. The recording is then analysed and a skill is built from it.

Passwords, keys and card numbers you type are hidden in the recording. Anything that looks like a secret is replaced before it is saved.

If it doesn't work

  • "A teaching session is already running." Finish or stop it first. Only one runs at a time.
  • "Another employee is teaching on this computer." Wait for them to finish.
  • "Teaching isn't recording right now." Start or resume recording, then try again.
  • "Teaching is still recording." Finish recording first.
  • "The recorder on this computer didn't start." Try again in a moment. If it keeps happening, report it. See Report a problem.
  • If nothing was recorded, no skill is built.
